Update - August 24th at 3 p.m.

Travis has posted a new update to Bennett's site, so please link there and read about it. As a reminder, the link to "Bennett's Site" is at the top of the right column.

Bennett is maintaining his status right now, which is a good thing. He's starting to show some positive signs of stabilization, but we MUST remember that he's not out of the woods yet. As Travis mentioned in one of his recent posts, this will be a marathon...with hills. Doctors and nurses have told him to expect ups and downs. I know it's easy to feel relief when we hear good news (I know I do), but we can't stop lifting Travis, Kelly, and Bennett up in prayer.

Perhaps the most appropriate response to the recent string of good news is to praise God for the progress Bennett is making and for meeting the needs of Travis, Kelly, and their families to this point. After we send that praise, however, we need to be on our knees and continue to ask that God heal Bennett. And...let's not forget to continue paging Travis and Kelly after we pray for them. It has been a few days now, and I know that the tendency is to allow our efforts to drop off. We can't let that happen. Let's continue to pray.

Let's also continue to post. Steve couldn't wait to receive more notes, because they are doing so much to sustain Travis, Kelly, and the family during this time. So, I encourage you to write a note this afternoon by commenting on this blog, signing the guestbook on Bennett's site, or both. Multiple posts are appreciated by Travis, Kelly, and the families to let them know that they're thought about and prayed for on a daily basis. Many of you are already doing this, so I encourage others to do so as well.

Thanks, and keep praying, paging, and posting!

Kelly, Travis, and Bennett,
We are still praying. We're so thankful for the progress Bennett has made and know that prayers have made the difference. We love you.

My sister, Elizabeth McBride, told me about your little Bennett and I have been praying for all of you constantly. Our oldest was sick with an infection when he was born and it was terrifying. But he is a very strong, smart, active, and faithful 11-year-old today. I do know how heavy your hearts are with worry, and I pray that you are resting in the Lord's "green pastures" and allowing Him to restore your souls continually. Bennett is so blessed by his heritage, as we are all being blessed by your amazing testimony. This uniting in prayer for your precious child is a glorious taste of heaven. I thank God that he is healing Bennett and I will continue to pray that you all be restored to perfect health. I will also request prayers for him at my church, Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, TX.
