I just got off the phone with Steve (Travis' dad), so here's the latest update:
- Bennett continues to respond well to being taken off the cooling bed. The bypass machine is still working well at this point, so let's keep praying that it will continue.
- Bennett's heart rate and blood pressure are both staying at a good level, which is key.
- Bennett is also less sedated now. Steve said that he's being given pain medication as needed based on what signs his body gives the doctors and nurses.
- Bennett is now moving his feet and trying to open his eyes. Unfortunately, he's not strong enough to open his eyes yet, but Steve hopes that will happen soon.
- Kelly will be discharged from the hospital around noon or 1 p.m. today. She continues to walk around (which is a good thing), so it seems as though she is still on the road to recovery.
Steve mentioned again how uplifting it is to read all of the thoughts, prayers, and comments that you've sent their way. His actual words were that they "devour" them. Your efforts are truly sustaining them right now, so please continue to post messages by commenting on this blog or by signing the guestbook on "Bennett's Site" (link at the top of the right column). I'll be taking another batch to them tomorrow, so if you'd like to say something to them, make sure to post on either site (or both sites) today or tomorrow morning by 10 a.m.
I'll be back in touch with more updates as I have them. Take care, and keep praying (and paging)!

I have been keeping up with you through Ann and Leslie, and I just wanted you to know that we are in constant prayer for Bennett. My daughter, Ava (age 2) and I prayed out loud for your family and Baby Bennett in the car this morning as we were running errands. I also woke up last night at 4:00 in the morning thinking of your sweet family, and lifted you up in prayer again. I just want you to know how many people here in Abilene love you, and are on our knees on your behalf! I thought of you when I read Psalm 5: Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
O LORD WE WAIT IN EXPECTATION!
Travis, Kelly and Bennett,
We don't know you personally, but we found the request for prayers on Ashley Nelson's blog.
We are consumed with thoughts and prayers for you; and we pray expectantly for you. We approach the Throne of Grace with you with confidence so that you may receive mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need.
Love,
Noel and Celeste Green

I've been checking the websites frequently for updates and praying often on his behalf. Blessings to you all.
I don't know of you personally, I just ran across a prayer request for sweet Bennett that lead me here. I've gotten a small group of women that I work with here in Lubbock following you guys and all of us are storming the Gates of Heaven with prayers on Bennett's behalf. I want you to know that the strength, optimism and true faith in God that your family has maintained is truly awe-inspiring.
