Update - August 23rd at 3:50 p.m.

Baby Bennett began the procedure of being taken off the cooling bed at 2:45 p.m. today. Even as I write this, that procedure continues. According to Steve and Cilla (Travis' parents), the procedure is a gradual one that lasts about six hours. So, please say special prayers on Bennett's behalf from now to 8:45 p.m. tonight.

As of 2 p.m. this afternoon, Kelly was feeling good and looked great. She is still scheduled to be discharged tomorrow provided that everything remains okay with her. She is looking forward to being discharged so she can be with Travis and Bennett in the NICU. She'll still have some recovering of her own to do, but I'm sure that being together with Travis and Bennett will help her more than any medicine could.

The comments from this blog and from Bennett's site were delivered to the hospital earlier this afternoon. My heart smiled when I saw how overwhelmingly thick the stack of papers was. Travis, Kelly, and their families were equally as touched when they saw the stack as well. In fact, Cilla shared with me that they had read the initial set of comments in the NICU constantly since Tuesday. She also said that, everytime she walks into Kelly's room, she sees Kelly reading the comments as well. So, thanks to all of you for writing them. Please know how much those notes, prayers, and wishes mean to Travis, Kelly, and their families during this time.

Continue to keep Travis, Kelly, Bennett, and their families in your prayers. Let's try to make that pager buzz constantly between now and 8:45 p.m. to remind those at the hospital that we're praying (and more importantly, to take dozens and dozens of requests to God on their behalf).

Also, let's keep writing notes to Travis, Kelly, Bennett, and his grandparents, aunts, and uncles to let them know we support them and love them.

As the work day nears its end, I want to remind everyone in the local area about Travis and Kelly's request for no visitors between now and Sunday. If this request changes, I'll be sure to let everyone know. For now, though, let's allow Travis and Kelly to focus their attention on Bennett and their families.

Take care, and keep praying!

Specks,
As Kennedy and I went through our day today, I thought and prayed about you often. I prayed that someday soon you would be able to hold a happy, healthy child. Bennett is so lucky to have you two as parents and he is learning very early in life that so many other people love and care about him too. He has amazing parents, but an awesome Father! I know that God is loving on Bennett, just like we all wish we could right now. We love you three (and extended family) and you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers.

Travis and Kelly - we are praying as Bennett is going through something new today! May you all feel God's presence. We are having a time of prayer at the building Saturday morning at 8:30 for you two and Bennett. Just no that the prayers will not slow down.

Praying for you constantly as you go through the day. Our God is so faithful. Please hold on to that today. I sure wish Lubbock was closer! :)

Kelly, as a fellow C-sectioner, all I can say is take it easy, but keep walking when you can. The more movement the sooner you will be back to feeling good. I am praying for specifically for your emotionally and physically today.

LOVE YOU ALL!

We saw a prayer request for your little boy on a friend of a friend of a friend's blog! Our hearts are heavy for you and we are praying that God will heal Bennett and that He will sustain you as only He can during this trying time. We put a post on our own blog for prayer for Bennett and I also sent out an email to our entire Sunday School class and just about everyone else we know, so that they can be praying as well. We have 1 year old twins and when they were born, one of them spent some time in the NICU. It's amazing the wonderful care they have in this day and age for sick babies. God bless you all and we will continue to pray!!

Travis, Kelly, and sweet baby Bennett,
I just got back from Brazil this afternoon, checked my email, and read the wonderful news that Bennett has arrived!! I love you guys so much; your family means so much to me and to all of us. We're praying for you incessantly. (You even got a lot of Brazilians praying for you; and of course we've got some good ol' Volunteers praying too.) I'm praying that God's sovereignty, power, strength, peace, hope, and love fills us all to overflowing right now. May Bennett soon take pictures that look a little more comfy. May God be glorified!
Love you buckets,
Tafanie

We are praying for you. As I go to work in the ER I constantly think of you and your medical team. I pray that your nurses, doctors, and support staff are intelligent and caring, doing everything that is best for you and Bennett. I will continue to keep you, Bennett and the staff at Georgetown in my prayers.

Dear Kelly, Travis,Baby Bennett, Kathy, Bobby and everyone,
Our hearts and thoughts and prayers have been with you all day today. I am praying that you all won't be anxious but will know in your hearts that God is watching over Bennett and you all. It has helped me and Don many times as parents to remind each other that God loves our kids more than we do. That always helped me to realize that. God loves Bennett more than you do--how awesome is that? He's in good hands. We love you all! Jerri and Don Harrington

Hi you guys,

We haven't met but have enjoyed Travis as song leader lately. We were so sad to hear about what is happening.

First of all, we are praying for you hard and often. We have read your blog which brought up recent fresh memories of our own - last April our then 11 month old daughter Belle was where Bennett is, in the NICU at Georgetown and I can imagine you there now and a bit about how you must be feeling. Thank goodness his Mom is there with him now too. Better for all hearts and minds I'm sure.

Ellyn and Lisa helped us as did the Church by praying for our little girl when we thought we faced cancer with her -- I truly believe because of prayers like you are receiving and love of our family and friends her surgery was a great success, even a miracle, and it was just a huge meaningless tumor. The love and prayers we got from people we didn't even know, the special care we got at Georgetown through doctors/nurses... was our strength.

I feel for you and I pray for you and your sweet beautiful boy - he is lucky to have all that he does in you.

I hope we can meet you all one day and have a bit of fun together as we watch our children grow.

Much love to you -
Julie, Darren, Hart and Belle Irby

Travis, Kelly and Bennett~
I am still praying for you guys and thinking of you and baby Bennett throughout the day! My heart aches for you, and although I can't begin to think of the right words to say to you, please know that I (along with many friends and family members I have contacted) am praying for you. Last night, I couldn't sleep, so I just prayed for you guys and Baby Bennett. I know that God is faithful and that He is with you as you go through this difficult time. God bless you all!

Love,
Kate (Barclay)

And for Kelly, also as a fellow C-sectioner, I echo Ashley's advice! Take it easy and try to get some rest!
